How to get distance while fly fishing?
I started fly fishing a couple weeks back and can only seem to get about 20 feet of distance. Every time I get ready to let my fly go, it always seems to stop and fall mid flight. I am practicing the false cast btw.
I have been using those practise fly’s if that helps.
Well it is challenging to get the hang of. The biggest problem that i see with people (including myself when first starting) is casting at the wrong time. You want to take your rod from about a 9 o clock position to a 12 o clock position, throw your fly out from the 12 o clock position. Many people seem to think they will cast further if they take their rod as far back as they can then flinging it. This will only give you terrible casts like you mentioned because you’re allowing the too much slack to get in your line let alone probably hitting the ground and getting hung up on stuff.
What are the parts of the fly fishing rod?
I just got a fly rod the other day and it broke on our camping trip. I have to send in a form and I am not sure what the parts are the fly rod? Does anyone know the a website that has a picture of a Fly fishing rod and it shows the names of the parts of the fly rod?

Fly Fishing Morgan Run with The Troutmen
Fly Fishing. Here is the final cut of the Fly Fishing Morgan Run Episode. This episode will be broken into two parts since I prefer to keep each movie under 10 min. I can only hold your attention for so long. Besides it takes me hours and hours in the editing room to produce a few minutes of final work. Where is a good spot for fly fishing at Big Bear Lake?
I’ve been looking around on the Internet, and was wondering if there are any good spots at Big Bear. Also, I’m looking for some fly fishing classes in that area. I would an opinion from someone who’s actually gone fishing there. Thanks.
Boulder bay, Eagle point, Fawnskin area are good. A lot of float tubers use fly fishing tackle in those area’s. Sometimes they have demo fly fishing seminars through the discovery center and I know that Bob Marriots Fly fishing in Buena Park teaches fly fishing classes. Here are a couple of links,

What are some Tricks to fly fishing for trout?
I’m going camping in a couple weeks real close to a place full of trout. My friends and i want to go fly fishing and were wondering what kind of tackle we would need we have the poles from a friend i was just hoping for some help on a few pointers.
Assuming you know how to cast a fly rod. Are you looking for flies? The three best flies would be pheasant tail nymph, hare’s ear and prince nymph. Leaders and tippet in sizes 5x to7x. Is it in a lake or stream? These are just a few ideas. Hope you can catch a few.
